Nodinite currently use Windows authentication to authenticate the actual User either accessing Nodinite using the Web Client or the Web API.

All User operations within Nodinite are audited to the Nodinite Audit Log.

A user within Nodinite is matched by IIS to an existing Windows Domain account or local Windows user when operating in Workgroup mode. All non-Windows users must provide valid Windows domain credentials to pass the logon procedure. If an end-user is not explicitly defined or part of a Windows AD Groups he/she is not allowed entrance to use Nodinite.

Further, a User is associated with one or more Roles either implicitly using Windows AD Groups or explicit (by pinpointing individual Users for each Role).

Quick facts

  • Members of the Administrators Role is a Nodinite Administrator.
  • You must be member of the Administrators role to manage Roles (and all other administrative parts/objects).
  • Users must be part of at least one Role in a Log View and/or a Monitor View to be able to work with Nodinite.
  • Users must be defined and used from the same Windows Domain where Nodinite is installed.

Any number of users can be part of the Administrators Role. The latter is not recommended usage of Nodinite.

The principle of least privilege should be honoured.
